Thanks for the warm welcome, folks! Brings a tear to me eye...
Made some pics of the stuff I'm amassing: some I already have, some is on its way, and some
will be if certain auction prices don't get too high!
Tonight I won this hunting vest:
Not an exact match but plenty close enough for me. It might be a little long...if so I'll just tuck it in. It has a big pouch for quail kills on the back that I'll have to remove.
Shoulder pads: the closest thing I could find are Army load-bearing suspenders:
I'm going to paint them red and remove most of the straps and buckles. I'll just velcro them to the vest, two or three to a shoulder. I will leave the straps on one of them, though, so I'll have something to attach the knife to. That pad will attach to the belt at front & back like it's supposed to.
Speaking of the belt, I'm going to use a 1.5" web pistol belt.
I just misjudged the end of the auction for this helmet:

...but there's a similar one ending tomorrow. I would've preferred the SWAT version but the PASGT is close enough. I'll paint it Navy blue and add the M, trying not to make it look like the M on Speed Racer's helmet! Current issue "sun-wind-dust goggles" are on their way.
Funny: I've been wearing SW pilot costumes for almost 5 years and didn't even realize that Mutt was one, too! So Pilot X lives on in another universe. Here are the wings I chose:
Here's some of the other gear so far:
The baton holder in the upper left is another pending dealie. I'll be picking up a simple wooden baton at a army/navy store this week for $10. The Colt .45-like gun is a Marksman metal bb gun (not Airsoft!) that I already had, and the leather holster is on its way--according to the measurements the Colt should fit. I'll use one or two of the suspender straps to strap it to my leg. The survival knife I got at a surplus store for $5. And there's Junkyard's leash.
Tomorrow I'll post a pic of an Uzi-like cap gun I've had for 15 years that might pass for the Mac 11 (to untrained eyes), although that Airsoft version Reaper posted the link to is tempting.
Kneepads: gonna pick up some inline scating pads and paint them brown.
Pants & shirt: got these at a thrift store:
Believe it or not, that shirt is green. It didnt bother me too much that they weren't the same shade as the pants, but if they look friggin' PURPLE in photos then it looks like I'd better try again.
And then there's Junkyard!
Haven't won these yet. The one in the middle is neat but at 21" it's too big to lug around a convention. The one on the left, while a bit cutesy-poo, is beanie-sized and thus could peek out of a breast pocket. Besides, the chicks'll dig 'em. ;D Maybe he can be Junkyard, Jr. Would you believe Ty never made a rottweiller Beanie Baby?
