I had such a fun time making the Duke costume last year that I've now decided to make another JOE costume. Spurred by the discussions with Profiler in the other thread, I've decided to turn my attention to Lt. Falcon. Now, I won't be giving up Duke. I'll definitely still make use of that costume, but Falcon is a fairly easy costume to pull off for someone who doesn't have a lot of money to spend and doesn't need any specially-made pieces. My brother (whose putting together his own airsoft outfit) and I looked at a bunch of camoflauge samples and decides that regular Woodland Camo is the closest kind to Falcon's uniform. My brother also has the same type of harness Falcon wears, I just need to buy one in a different color. Anybody know where I might be able to find that Special Forces patch Falcon has on his left shoulder? It's the one that has a sword with three small lightning bolts through it. I did a quick search earlier, but could only turn up generic "Special Forces" patches that don't have that emblem. All in all, it'll be a fairly easy costume to put together, and I'll probably have it done in time to take to San Diego ComiCon with me. I can be Duke one day and Falcon the next.

Actually, in some cases Falcon would be a very expensive uniform if you were to go with the actual Vietnam era green beret camoflage.
Good luck to ya.

^ LOL!! I wonder if I can work on a Don Johnson impersonation? ;D Actually, in some cases Falcon would be a very expensive uniform if you were to go with the actual Vietnam era green beret camoflage. I assume that was shown in the comic book? I'm only familiar with the movie version. I did a Yahoo and Google Image search for Falcon pictures, but only turned up either screencaps from the movie or pictures of the toy.

Pretty much. The figure was modeled after that kind of camoflage and got drawn as it in the comics.

I always saw Falcon as wearing Tiger stripes, but then again, that's just me. You are right about the Viet Nam Erc Patterns though the pockets on the shins gives it away. The Patch you are looking for should be the 1st Special Forces patch, not a generic one. There should be 2 versions, subdued and full color. I say go for the one you like best. You should match the Beret Flash to the Shoulder patch, again, 1st SPec For. You can get a cheap Springer Airsoft Shotgun with a pistol grip and stock, give the look of the figure shotgun. Sidearms are popular, and you would have your choice, .45, 9mm, etc. If you need anything else, ask Recondo here to the rescue

Hmmm. I'll take another look at the Tiger Stripes. Yeah, for the patches I found a full-color one - store.yahoo.com/militarybest/specforgroup.html - and the subdued one - store.yahoo.com/militarybest/specforgroup1.htmlI took another look at the movie and the patch is completely yellow, but one of those will have to do. For the Beret patch, I found this one - www.afmo.com/product_page.asp?pid=3531I assume that's pretty much supposed to be the patch he has on his beret, even though the details are sometimes not really seen. I'll check out that shotgun. I wish somebody made replicas of the standard G.I. JOE rifle that they always seem to use. I had planned to make one myself last year for my Duke costume, but never got it started. Also, in some scenes, Falcon's got a strange-looking silver object attached to the left side of his belt. Not sure what it's supposed to be, but it almost looks like a large battery. Haha!! Maybe some kind of grenade? And he also appears to have a standard L-shaped Army flashlight in a thigh holster(!) of some kind on his right leg, but I may just leave that off.

What about the backpack, which I guess holds a field radio of some kind? I figured I could get away with not having one, but since I always take a backpack to me with conventions to put stuff in, I figured it'd come in handy having not only a backpack, but one that would fit in with the costume.

Although, be sure to watch out for Serpentor....you'll have to jump in front of yourself and take the snake that was meant for .....well you. Either way, good luck to ya and I'm lookin foreward to seein it and see ya at the Slaughterhouse.
