If you're looking to get things under way quickly, I would suggest Beach Head. He can pretty much be put together from ready-made parts, whereas Snake-Eyes would require more customization. Beach Head seems simple enough to me: green long-sleeve shirt, green balaclava, camo pants (woodland seems closest of the most common patterns), army boots and a black vest. You can easily find all of those from a place that carries military clothing, such as uscav.com. For the guns most people seem to use some brand of airsoft, also easy to find.

New guy here, looking to put a costume together. I've never done a costume before, but have a few simple ideas. Cutter and Bazooka are two of my choices.
The question I have is, what do you guys consider to be cannon? I see Bazooka wearing OD Green pants and helmet cover as an action figure, and tan on the cartoon. I haven't really seen him in any comics though. Any suggestions?
I'm in the military, so I have acess to most of the equipment. A lot of it is sitting in my garage. I'm just not sure what to use.

Go with Cutter! We don't have a Cutter yet As for colors and what not we usually defer to figures and box art with cartoons and comics as secondary refs. As long as you hit the major idetifying bits of that character no one is going to complain.

I can probably get Cutter done soon. I refuse to wear bell bottoms though.

Welcome! Yeah, a Cutter would be sweet. You could go with Navy Blue colored BDUs instead of the bell bottoms.

Thanks Snake Eyes!
I live near a Navy/Coast Guard base, so I can shoot down there and see what the new Government Issue pants are. I have a Red Sox hat, and a buddy is hooking me up with an OD green drop hoslter. A life jacket is not hard to find in the Ocean State. People keep them in their trunks, just in case the state floods.

Well, my Cutter costume is about 95% done. I got Navy issued pants and shirt, which are being phased out so luckily I got them when I did. I got a used orange life jacket, which I will probably take apart and stuff with stuffing to make it more comfortable. I bought an airsoft M9 yesterday, and should be getting my holster tomorrow. I ordered a throw back Red Sox hat that is exactly like Cutters from the cartoon.
The hat was the hardest thing to find. I called stores in Rhode Island, Massechusetts, and New Hampshire and none of them stocked it. Luckily I got a discount code and got 20% off online. I can't see spending $30.00 for a baseball hat.
I ordered a G.I. Joe patch like the logo one on the site, and will probably sew it on the life jacket. I also picked up a prop mustache, but they didn't have red so I got brown. As soon as I get it all together I'll post some pics and you guys can pick it apart. ;D

Hey, the fact you went the extra mile to get the exact hat makes you golden around here man. That's awesome.

I'm a stickler for detail. I just wish I could make it to DC this year. I'll be there next year though.
BTW is Barbecue still the site admin?

Thanks, I should have it 100% by next weekend, that's when the hat will be here. Of course my buddy forgot to bring the holster today, hopefully he brings it to me by the end of the day or I'll have to wait until next month to get it.
Once I get a pic I'll send it to BBQ, hoepfully he's still checking his e-mail.
