Okay, now I'm totally confused, since I was on hiatus from the boards while all this drama was going on... I missed it all since I was subscribed to the other "Need a room for D-Con" thread and didn't get an email or a PM about the new one. Oops! Hmmm... I JUST today booked a room at the Hyatt for four nights at $166/night for the quote price. Which is odd, since it's different than the price Treadwell got. But I can TOTALLY cancel that room, as it appears the need be. I ALSO have a buddy named Wilson (Wil) who isn't a costumer but has told me he's gonna be there none the less. He could fill the room up to the 6-man capacity. But if someone could doublecheck the new thread I started today in order to make sure everything's copasetic before I call Hyatt and cancel the joint. Please Respond. Tunnel Rat awaiting orders...

Oh, and "What the--?!"
Did I read all this correctly? The Treadwell room is in the Mariott, but we'd prefer the Hyatt?
(no wonder the price I was quoted was different... I was in a different hotel!)
If we want to stay at the Hyatt Regency near the Pit guys, we can use the room I booked today! (Keeping ALL the same people on the roster!) Or else, we stay on the course and stay at the Mariott...
So what's the word? Votes? Show of hands?

I was wondering where you were! I should've emailed you.
So the room drama continues!
Hmm, pricier room (did you tell them it was for DC?), yet with 6 people so the per-person would now be less. (Unless your bud joined us in the Marriott, in which case it would drop more). And the adjoining room dealie becomes possible again.
That means two people end up on the floor each night, but we can rotate. But would two people FIT on the floor with the costuming bins & luggage of 6 people taking up space?
Milf, Doom, spill your thoughts.

I WAS TOLD THERE WOULD BE NO MATH!! We'll figger something out for ya BBQ. If we get adjoining rooms, maybe you can sleep in the connecting doorway and pay half-fare to each room. Just some figures for comparison: Based on the total-with-tax-and-such the Marriott gave me, expect around 14% to be added to the total. So these figures reflect this. Figures rounded to next dollar. "5 guests" means me, Doom, Milfviper, Mini-Milf and Fleetfang. Adding Wil makes 6, and Barbeque 7. Marriott, $684 for 4-night stay Per-person cost: 5 guests: $137 ea. 6 guests: $114 ea. 7 guests: $98 ea. Hyatt, $757 for 4-night stay 5 guests: $151 ea. 6 guests: $127 ea. 7 guests: $109 ea. Hyatt pros: -most con functions there -main lobby/bar is major costuming gathering place -possible roomlink with The Pit Hyatt cons: -nightmarish elevator waits -doesn't house dealers room -more expensive Marriott pros: -dealers room -cheaper -elevators bad, but not nearly asMarriott cons: -most con functions across the street I'm all for accommodating wayward Joes and Joe-friends, and it helps with cost, too. My only concern is having room enough to THINK. These rooms are are about the size of my college dorm room (okay, ours was bigger than most). It'll be about 3 weeks before it becomes urgent that one of us cancels our reservation, so there's time to discuss this a bit. That said, don't wait--SPEAK UP, GUYS!

I'm good either way, but would like a bed for sleep, although I know there will be very little of it. Mini is good sleeping on the floor for the 4 nights. he is used to it.

Barbecue, do you mean you found accomodations elsewhere, or that you're set with us?

Either hotel is good with me, I am leaning more towards cheaper though

So it's 6 guests, then? That means The Marriott would be $13 cheaper per person for the whole weekend. I'm as cheap as they come, but to me that amount doesn't weigh much against the other considerations. That said, I still don't know which hotel I prefer! Being able to run down to the dealer's room and back to the room to stow crap (Marriott) is a big consideration for me...but having a room connected to The Pit (Hyatt) would supremely rock. Fleetfang, you might want to double-check the price quote you got...according to the dragoncon site, www.dragoncon.org/dc_location.htm#Host_Hotels, the rate should be $150. You have to tell them it's for DragonCon, though. Also, if you could check to see it would even be feasible to have our room connected with theirs. Not a "we'll see what we can do when you arrive" thing, but a guarantee. (I'm sure both parties would have to call to confirm or whatever.) I'm thinking if that can be done, Hyatt, if not, Marriott.

Staying at the main hotel would be cool. But wherever we end up I'm fine with it.

I don't know about the suites in the Hyatt, but unless you get one room with a king bed and one room with double beds, you most likely will not have adjoining rooms. Also, even if the hotel does agree with both parties to give you adjoining rooms, chances are it will not happen when you arrive. The hotel does not "set rooms aside" per se. They know people are coming in and they jam you in as the current guests leave. If someone chooses not to leave, Georgia has an occupancy law that does not allow the hotel to move them to a non Dcon reserved area. The Hyatt does not care about requests for Dcon. The hotel is sold out and they know that most people won't cancel if their requests are not met, and even if they do, there's people waiting to scoop that room up. This will be the fourth year I've booked a room at the Hyatt and the process at check in has never gone smoothly.
